The cast of New Zealand's answer to Ru Paul's Drag Race are bringing a Christmas-themed live drag show to Auckland for one night only.

The Big Gay Christmas Drag Show on Saturday 22 December will feature all nine contestants from TVNZ's new reality show House of Drag, including the yet-to-be-revealed winner of the series. The live show is being independently produced and hosted by House of Drag's only drag king, Hugo Grrrl.

The Big Gay Christmas Drag Show has become an annual institution in Wellington, where it sold out and ran an extended season due to popular demand in 2017. This year, Auckland drag fans will get their own taste of the smash-hit live show for the first time.

Presenter Hugo Grrrl, also known as George Fowler, hopes the Auckland debut of the show will be just as successful as it's Wellington counterpart, particularly given the increased interest that House of Drag is bringing to live drag performance in New Zealand.

“I can’t wait to re-connect with the cast again, they are all such incredible live performers,” says Hugo. “It’s been a big task to organise the show. There are nine performers from different cities around New Zealand, so it’s probably the only time we’re all going to do a live show together.”

Tickets start at just $20 on Eventfinda. For $40, die-hard fans can get VIP tickets with front row seats and a half-time meet and greet and photos with the cast.
