Damon Albarn to release new album 'Dr Dee'

Small

Damon Albarn of Blur and Gorillaz fame is to release a new studio album titled Dr Dee.

The album was inspired by the life of John Dee; a noted English mathematician, astronomer, astrologer, occultist, navigator, imperialist and consultant to Queen Elizabeth I, who lived from 1527-1608.

Recorded last year at Albarn's West London studio, as well as in Salford with the BBC Philharmonic Orchestra, Dr Dee combines Albarn's voice with early English choral and instrumentation alongside modern, West African and Renaissance sounds.

Described by Albarn as "strange pastoral folk" the album is set to be released May 4th on CD, vinyl and digital download.
