Chris Cornell offers insight into new Soundgarden album
Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell has commented on the band's forthcoming album.
The singer last week talked with XFM and said he feels the 15 year break between albums has been a good thing. "If anything it has helped us. Certainly in writing and recording the new album, it feels very fresh. Everyone is included and an equal part of it musically and it feels very natural and expressive, and we're going in new directions we never did before."
Cornell continued, saying he thought the album would compliment their earlier work. "(It's) adding to what I belive is an important legacy as opposed to when a band gets together and if they make new music it doesn't add to anything, it just sort of subtracts. It's in a sense borrowing from a great legacy to go out and make money and have something to do. This is not that."
Live To Rise is to be the first song released from the album, and will also appear on The Avengers soundtrack Avengers Assemble, which is released on April 20th.
The new Soundgarden album is due out later this year.
